Opportunity and success:

An opportunity is defined in dictionary as "a situation or condition favourable for attainment of goal".

But the question is how far are we really able to utilize a knocking opportunity? Some of us are so busy in our lives that we dont even realize that the door is being knocked , some can hear the knocking sound but find it difficult to find which door it is, while some open the right door but fail to persue the road presented ahead....

Success is relative !! Some may consider the fulfilment of their goal as success, some keeping themselves away from risks / failures / downfalls as success, some might even consider fulfilment of others goals as their success...

I always thought that one day I will be able to say proudly that I was successful ..but going through various phases of life I have realised that it is becoming difficult for me to say that and that success is nothing but a notional feeling.

I very much feel that it is diificult to know that the choice of goal that one is making will yield the right results after  n number of years. This makes me feel that success is while one chooses the right goal ...and.not after accomplishing it.. !! What we feel after its accomplishment is the feeling of relief or happiness :)

Will be sharing more thoughts on this...
If it was convicing pls do write...

  1. Firstly.. Congratulations for this fabulous write up.... I am really happy to see the clarity with which you have presented your view.... Wish you good luck and keep posting more.

Inspired by what you have said, i would like to pick up this knocking opportunity to write something today :). Thanks for bringing it to my door....
Dear, Opportunity and Success are two most talked and researched topics in the world.Though every one has their own version of it, All the wise words and thoughts that have germinated to answer them can be traced to a conversation recorded in the book we all know as Bhagawat Geeta. When Arjun was confused about participating in the war ( an opportunity to defeat the wrong) and what will he win after defeating his loved ones ( criteria of success), Lord Krishna through his conversation resolved his confusion by giving him a Purpose....
The Purpose is above your goals, success and opportunity.. Goals take you near to the purpose, you may have to achieve many goals, change your goals due to adversities to meet the purpose. In more realistic terms, Purpose is like an area, a vast area., One can enter the area from any side.. while a goal is definite point, a destination, that can only be crossed. That is why one always achieve goals but only "meet" the purpose... No one can "achieve" the purpose. Even if one meets the purpose..the purpose never finishes.... and can keep you purposeful till eternity.... but the moment you achieve your goal.... it ends...and you have to move on.. Lord Krishna defines purpose as assimilating into GOD..... and i agree.... i only differ in saying, let us define our own GOD.... GOD is always something endless and Pure.... so GOD can be anything... Love, knowledge, Humanity, Nature...or anything that is endless and pure.
Well, i am not one of the most crisp writers so please pardon if it confused you more.... In a summary.... One should have a clear purpose in his life.... To meet the purpose he will have to achieve multiple goals.... and to achieve the goals he will have to keep moving and if you keep moving, the opportunities will automatically come.
Speaking about success.... it is important...it helps you keep motivated.... achieving your goals give you success, which is external and temporary.... one should also extract internal success from achieving the goals... which in other words is called satisfaction.... you will feel a bit satisfied if your goal bring you near to your purpose.Satisfaction should be the focus and not success. The success has to come if your purpose and goal are aligned. The irony of life is that in most part of our lives, the purpose of our life is achieving our goals... while it should be the other way round.

Ending my part by saying...what your wrote about opportunity and success is absolutely right....but i feel they are mortal in nature.... to have a firm direction, the focus should be on something immortal.... and till you don't lose this focus.. everything falls in place....

rephrasing few things that some great people have already said:
" Everything that comes your way, is an opportunity". " Opportunity is never right or wrong, small or big, it is what you make out of it". " Success is starting of another struggle".
" A Purpose gives you Goals, Goals give you opportunities, Opportunities give you hope thus, till you don't lose your hope...you will meet your Purpose"
... More on your next blog...i might have already written my comment more than your blog.... my apologies :P
